Therefore on October 10th, the 5th-grade students (aged between 10 and 11) from the Emile André school in Brussels, will enjoy an introductory session to coding! Boys and girls will be divided in two separate groups to highlight the importance of having more girls choosing STEM careers. The activity will start with an interactive quiz aiming at breaking stereotypes on the way women & tech careers are perceived.
For the past 5 years, the Microsoft Innovation Center Brussels has been actively working with schools to introduce and bring children closer to IT by organizing coding sessions.
This initiative aims to raise the interest of children in tech careers by showing them that coding is interesting and fun. They learn the essentials of a simple and intuitive language with which they are able to create digital worlds or to program a micro:bit.
