Brussels, the 19th of December 2016 – The Microsoft Innovation Center Brussels has awarded Guidewiser the Grand Prize at the Final of its 10th Boostcamp Program this 14th of December. Out of about 20 projects who attended the Kick-Off, 7 of them actually made it to the Final. They had the opportunity to explain their vision and show their evolution during the program. Different sectors were represented, such as mobility, tourism or construction.

Guidewiser, led by Karlis Skuja, wowed the jury and the audience during this Final. This cross-platform messenger based virtual assistant helps hotels and short-term rentals provide better travel experience to their guests. It is powered by advanced natural language processing, machine learning, sentiment analysis and AI technologies. The startup got a 3,000€ grant offered by Innoviris which will allow Guidewiser to keep developing their activity.

The Experts Prize was given to Alexandre Bodart Pinto for Accessible Travel, a collaborative platform that provides people with reduced mobility with the best information (about flights, facilities in hotels, etc.) to ease their travel experience.

Finally, Studnsquare and Yasser Elbaroudi were awarded the Brussels Capital Region Prize. Studnsquare is a platform that aims at connecting students looking for a job and employers looking for immediate personnel. The jury underlined the fact that this project has the potential to improve Brussels’ jobs ecosystem.

Since its creation in 2011, close to 60 start-ups have set up their business in the Brussels Capital Region and more than 300 jobs have been generated through the MIC programs. More than 230 entrepreneurs have received coaching and guidance. Created as a public-private partnership, the MIC is a tool for regional economic development. Its objective is to support the development of start-ups active in the IT field and facilitate their creation.
