On 19th December 2018, the Microsoft Innovation Center Brussels was organizing the 14th edition of the Boostcamp, the program specifically designed to support early-stage entrepreneurs in the IT sector. The winner of the Grand Prize is Windoors, a mobile platform designed to help HORECA employers specialized in espresso services easily find students willing to work to strengthen their workforce in times of need.
With their original graphic style, their down-to-earth approach and their contacts in the industry they target, the guys from Windoors (Johan, Rémy and Arcady) managed to convince the jury that their project was the most innovative. The coming challenges for them will be first to finish the version 1.0 of the application (and all the gamified features that come with it), get students to regularly use the app, and – later on – to adapt the app to other fields, such as retail. The Grand Prize will allow them to enjoy a 3-month free working spot at Transforma Bxl and comes with a 3.000€ grant delivered by Innoviris to help them further develop the project.
Another prize, the Brussels Capital Region prize, was awarded to BEAUTYNITY (led by Laetitia Smagas), a detailed beauty search engine that allows users looking for specific quality services by validated professionals to quickly and easily find them. This project was evaluated by the jury as having the most potential positive impact for the Region, as it’s now mostly active in Wallonia. The challenges for its arrival in Brussels are numerous but exciting. No doubt that a dynamic entrepreneur like Laetitia will easily manage them! She will also enjoy a 3-month free working spot at Transforma Bxl.
The 4 other pitching projects of the night were :
- AlgOut, who uses VR to help patients with chronic diseases better manage their pain and to ultimately replace painkillers (and the scondary effects that usually come with those).
- Sket, a platform that helps legal professionals transform legal services by improving their existing business and by making the digital legal innovation simpler.
- Solace, a brand new social network that gathers all the activities of a city so that you can enjoy good time with your friends.
- d.work, a platform that enables digital nomads and flexible workes to work by-the-hour wherever they want and connect with like-minded people.
Congratulations to all participants for their amazing progress, to our supporting partners for allowing us to run quality programs like the Boostcamp, and to our 2 great coaches Ben Piquard & Roald Sieberath for boosting and challenging our entrepreneurs throughout the week!
