29/11. Kodu session on International School of Brussels in collaboration with Greenlight for Girls

This Kodu session was organized during the morning of Saturday 29th November, in 4 small workshops, follow up by Laurent & Xavier :

  • Workshop Timeslot 1: Kodu - EN 10am
  • Workshop Timeslot 2: Kodu - EN 11am
  • Workshop Timeslot 3: Kodu - FR 13pm
  • Workshop Timeslot 4: Kodu - NL 14pm

Each Workshop last 45 minutes and took part approximately girls of 11-15 age in groups of 12 people. The workshops consist on a little introduction to get the students names and the information and usage of the technology.

Later on they continue explaining how they could build and create a game in a creative way, will they gain basic concept for developing. The principle aim was to create a game where a person should eat a fish.

To finish there were several minutes were they spoke about what they have learned, a little summarize of everything and time for questions.

On the last Saturday of November, day 29, Microsoft Innovation Center Brussels launched a new initiative to sensitize girls to programming on the International School of Brussels, a new Kodu Session with the collaboration of Greenlight for Girls.

About Kodu

Kodu is a new visual programming language made specifically for creating games. It is designed to be accessible for children and enjoyable for anyone. Kodu is a software for creating games with a simple and intuitive visual programming language. It was created by Microsoft to teach children to program. The software has been designed to help create games for work of learning content but also as a support for learning. Indeed, it can work creativity, programming, problem solving, and the narrative, which the user becomes the director.
